 Thora Birch was born March 11th on 1982. She is an American actress, producer, and director. Her first film appearance was in Purple People Eater (1988), for which she won the Young Artist Award for "Best Young Actress under Nine Years of Age". Birch was a child actress who appeared in films like All I Want For Christmas (1991) as well as Patriot Games(1992), Hocus Pocus (1993), Monkey Trouble (94), Now and Then (1995), and Alaska (1996). She received a Young Artist Award in the category of "Best Young Actress under Nine Years of Age." In 1999, Birch played Jane Burnham in American Beauty. This film brought her an BAFTA nomination. Then, she starred as Enid in the cult classic Ghost World (2001), earning a nomination for the Golden Globe for Best Actress. Birch was nominated for an Emmy Award in 2003 for her performance as the main character in Homeless to Harvard:The Liz Murray Story. Birch also starred on Dungeons & Dragons (2000) (2001), The Hole (2004), Silver City (2004), Dark Corners (2006) and Winter of Frozen Dreams (2009). Birch has also appeared in the role of Whisperer Maryand Gamma in the Walking Dead's Season 10. Birch was born in Los Angeles, the eldest child of Jack Birch and Carol Connors. Birch who's family's first surname was Biersch was of German-Jewish, Scandinavian, French-Canadian and Italian ancestry. [6] The name of her mother, Thora, comes from the Norse god of thunder and lightning "Thor" that would have been her name, should she had been a young boy.
